My Sundown SFB experience

So, a while back I bought an sfb 8k and just got to using it a couple months ago and barely at that. I have it hooked up to a zv5 15 dual 2 wire to 1 ohm 320amp brand X, grip 31 agm main northstar 220 2nd battery AND a limitless cyber 6k. 2 runs ofc 1/0, big 3, electric was very stable.
For some reason the amp kept going into protect...cycled it and it would work again until it didnt...
So I got an rma from sundown shipped the amp out to them and just got an email (no name just generic sundown email) that the amp bench tested fine and I would have to pay them $50 to ship it back.... so not only am I getting my amp the doesn't work properly I'm out $50... where is this awesome sundown warranty and customer service I've always heard about?

I'm guessing you have the amp wired directly to the second battery?
How is the battery wired into the electrical system?
Have you tested the voltage output at the second battery while the system is playing?

Well my SFB-5k randomly started the blink of death today, the amp turns on gets signal music drops, and boom, blinking protect. I have checked my wiring 10x over.. Seems just a bad one, down4sound got another one out to me as I sent this one to sundown

Mine was going into protect mode and it ended up being a loose wire in the inline fuse holder. Just a thought.

I had a Deaf Bonce AAK-4000.1 on similar (almost Identical) electrical and could see voltage drops into the 12s with just a 4K. Maybe add another AGM or use lith and see what happens?
It is an 8K after all.
It took a cyber6K (battery delete... etc) to get it closer to 14v on my amp, but I never got it over 14v consistently. I tended to try to find the limits and was hard on it.

SFB are full bridge Chinese made amps. They will be replaced by the SIA series. SIA are 1 and 2 ohm rated the same and supposedly are more efficient.

Are these the newer cheaper sundown amps?

Yes, Sundowns version of the Taramps, but can handle more input voltage. Now, Sundown is releasing a newer line (SIA) of the full bridge amps that are supposed to have similar Korean boards like their SALT line of amps. I bought an SIA3500 recently which is 3500 @ 1 ohm and 3,000 @ 2 ohm. So, it's like a Smart Sundown.

I actually left out that I as well have a cyber 6k I thought I put it but didn't
I haven't even really turned it up yet even I'm not even remotely close to clipping we backed it off quite a bit. And while I monitored the voltage and I've never dipped below 14

There is a ton of different variables that can make an amp to protect and reproducing it on a test bench isn't always going result in any issues.
The amp passes Sundown's testing procedure when they eliminate all variables that come with your installation. The ball is in your court.

Even a basic TL072 will do this function just fine. LoL. The joys of comparators!

You stated you have an SIA 3500 right now. I would run it for now with the supply for the demand, until you decide you want more power and have...

Wired to option #1 would be ideal for those subs. I have quite a few 10s. in the proper enclosure, tens can get down pretty good with the right...
