We never paid anybody under the table. That would be too much of a liability risk if they were to get injured on the job site. Our cheapest employee 20 years ago made $10/hour for picking up trash, a laborer. The construction industry out here is mainly a piece work type of job. Meaning, the more you do, then, the more you make. We had guys making $2,000-$3,000 a week if they wanted to. Too many hourly guys had that ",Union" type of thinking. Clock in for 8 hours and do as little as possible and go home. The, "peck peck, give me a check" mentality. Also, all of our employees had to have the proper documents and get vetted just like everybody else in order to get hired. Did, some slip by, probably. But, we did our due dilligence to make sure that everybody was legal. We never got fined by the labor board for hiring illegals. So, no, I'm not familiar with what you are talking about. Looking back on it now, we probably paid our guys too much and priced ourselves out of getting new projects and were forced to close. Btw, we had over 200 employees on a daily basis. And, we had plenty of Americans working for us as well. I guess that you don't consider legal Hispanics as Americans. So, I'll say it for you, we had plenty of white employees also. You should've said, "some company owners".
