Does anyone even care about car audio anymore?

I

was thinking of something too. Maybe having it spun by the tire and the belt maybe? Figure it would have to power a completely different battery or battery bank then the one powering the car's motor(s). I don't know exactly how electric cars work so much... and I'm sure there will be different innovations and styles between the car and battery companies. We'll see I guess
Once the car stops, the alternator would stop... unless, again, you had an electric motor spinning the alternator.

I still don't know why they don't have the wheel spinning a generator on electric cars anyway. They are charging batteries on braking but there is no reason not to have a generator charging the batteries while the car is in motion, spun by the wheels. The car can charge itself.

Battery power cars still get their power from coal and oil and nuclear lol.

And mining the materials for those batteries is horrible for the earth. It takes a ton of energy to make those cars and then all the electrical losses instead of just taking oil out of the ground and burning it in a motor. There's gotta be so much electrical loss between a charging station and whatever power plant is supplying the power, and the power plants aren't green lol. I mean it's a joke, in reality. We can go to war in the middle east again to raid those lithium mines over there.

You answered your own question. Regenerative braking. That's how hybrids do it anyway: accel uses battery and decel charges battery. Makes them drive like a rc car.

Yeah, I didn't think of that.
One thing that has been floated out there is make the roads equipped with charging stations in the ground. So as you're driving, the car is also being charged, like those charging stations for phones you just set your phone into. But who knows

Electric cars are not the answer in my opinion either. I work for a utility company and the end game is renewable energy right? Well, it's been at least 20 years and the main problem is it isn't cost effective. It costs more to maintain the equipment then money being made. If it isn't by now, I'm assuming it won't ever be.

Car audio is still popular it has just shifted.

With it getting more complicated (voltage regulators, complex OEM intergration, steering wheel/temperature controls) the do it yourself crowd (aka forum users) have shrunk but the amount of overall car audio based shops/brands hasn't really changed much. There's still tons of shops that do full car installs, OEM DSP intergration (extremely popular), headunit/backup camera replacements. Not only that think of how many brands have popped up in the last 10 years ? (car audio is still popular it's just a different type of popular)

If you want something that's dying then look at home theater. There use to be over 30 home theater shops in my area now there's less than 5. There forum/brand presence has tanked as well

To the original question: I think car audio used to seem more popular when I used to be younger. If I still had friends who were in high school, I imagine they'd still be into loud stereos, and I'd have a much younger girlfriend... Let's not go down that rabbit hole.

On a positive note: My TAN ETF's have grown over $100/share since I bought them! Unfortunately, I invested far more into USO, which has tanked.

I recently learned that wind turbines use ~300 gallons of hydraulic oil that has to be replaced monthly.
