Got a 2007 Civic si coupe thinking about doing a ported box forward firing sealed off or subs forward, ports through rear deck firing onto glass.
All opinions appreciated, if I build into trunk I can fit about 6cubes n there and wanna go with 312s or 215s.

The opening from the trunk into the cabin is very small and is sort of a bottle neck for getting bass into the cabin. I would seal the trunk and forward fire into the cabin with 2 10s in a 4th order if you're willing to give up the entire trunk.

My ex had a 06 coupe. That car does not have enough volume to correctly do 3 12s or 2 15s.

I'd say 2 12s at most with a conventional ported enclosure or compact 4th order.

I agree with sealing off and firing forward as well, a box that will fit after made into the trunk can be about four cubes Max if I build the box into the trunk I can get six cubes which is barely enough to run three 12s or 215s which is okay because I run small boxes for less group delay and better punch.
I was wanting to stick with ported and thought the ports hitting the glass would get me a few more decibels.
I know it would be a lot more work to do the building maybe not worth the extra two cubic feet

I have seen some very loud installs with a band pass ported through the rear deck up against the glass and have considered doing two tens ported in the rear deck as well

Not gonna work well unless its a 4th order or 6th order box firing up the rear deck and youll need to gut out that rear deck and reinforce plus airtight seal that. Normal ported boxes in that configuration will have literally negative amounts of bass. Again you only realistically have room for two 10s in if you want to do the rear deck option and two 12s for the trunk wall. Cramming a lot of woofers into a tiny civic trunk wont get you loud at all. It'll make you look like a joke in bass meets when a pair of 8s destroy you lol. Space makes bass and you need room For batts and amps. Unless you wanna kill your amps by mounting them on the sub box.

Hmm sounds good to me. I was thinking subs and port forward would be the easiest to do and would be good hitting you right in the back!
I'm still going to seal up that rear deck and trunk really tight to stop the back wave.
The two tens in a box on the rear deck w subs n port hitting the glass would sound good too I would say. The two 12s directly behind you would probably give you better impact tho.

I'm going with a compact lithium battery setup and I can fit the amps on panels on the sides of the trunk. I could never understand why people put amps on their enclosures lol!
Wasn't really wanting to make a competition vehicle just a musical daily driver.
Either way I need to wall off behind the seats and the rear deck to stop the back wave and pressure loss or put a back firing ported box up against the back of the trunk like everybody else does but I hate those rattles and letting the seats down so bass can pass through.
I think the two tens ported sealed off facing the rear glass would probably sound the best.

This makes NO sense to me... maybe how it's written?

In a trunk?.. once again... Unclear or written wrong. How you gonna seal off the trunk and deck then face a ported box off the rear glass in a coupe?

*Edit * Upfiring enclosure integral to the deck?.. well... good luck charlie.
I suppose it's doable

Apologize for the unclear description there I was comparing a regular enclosure against the back of the trunk lid like everyone else does( I don't really like having all those rattles) vs a sub forward sealed from trunk( to stop the back wave that results in cancellation) box with ports firing through rear deck onto the back glass so I don't have to cram port and sub onto same face also want the hatchback effect of the glass being loaded with ports too.

Yeah the upfiring enclosure integral to the deck is likely to sound the best and cleanest. I can gut the rear deck and do a frame to reinforce it and bolt in the enclosure as a receiver. Every hatchback I've heard with the subs hitting the glass was very impressive I'm tempted to go for that effect

Except this is a trunk. You need to do a 4th order band pass or the sound waves from the subs will travel around in the trunk and causes massive cancellation resulting in negative bass, ive had to fix quite a few of these setups so seriously its a horrible idea. Imagine all this work and your door speakers have louder bass. Thats what cancellation is. Only way to port up is to fully do a 4th order enclosure not a ported enclosure.

For a sub that small.. Id like to see an 8 or 6.5 @ around 55-70 htz usually sound pretty nice and clean on approx 40-100 rms @ 4 ohms. 8 ohms I...
