hey everyone, new member from Canada, i was introduced to competition grade car audio around 1993, i was 11 and my neighbors who were in their late teens early 20's had a sub enclosure building / installation business running out of their basement and didn't mind me hanging around. over the years i have hung around with friends who have had some thumping systems but i have never had one myself, well that is all about to change.
I have purchased

alpine cde 172bt head unit
orion xtr122d subwoofer
orion cobalt 1500.1d amp
and infinity reference series 6x8's
and i am putting the sub in a ported enclosure.

i was just wondering since i am growing ever so anxious to hear how this is all gonna sound, if someone could give me a rough estimate as to what kind of bass i can expect, i ain't looking to win any comp's but i would like to shake my escape a little bit haha. will i get some good sound out of this set up?
thanks.

Hello Oreeon, glad you are here. That is avery big yes. That Orion set up is a great marriage. Since you have experience with box manufacturing, you will surely find the optimal size/calibration for your musical taste. That dual 2ohm sub will get the most power out of that Cobalt. Having an suv is going to further amplify the depth of your bass. Expect shaking mirrors and maybe even flexing rooftop. Good luck on your build.

hey thanks so much for taking the time to reply, i am liking your response , i just kind of bought these components on a whim, i don't know anyone running any orion gear, so i don't really have any experience with the brand to get an idea of what i am in for. i just know i used to have this old bass cd called " professor hum drum - rock and roll is here to bass" it was an old IBP cd, and it had 4 orion xtr's on the front so i figured if they were good enough to grace the cover of a bass cd, they must be alright, lol.

i suppose anything will be better than the factory gear in it, once i get to a certain volume the bass just vanishes, i figure it's a built in safety so the speaker doesn't blow.

thanks :)
Come to think of it, that bass reduction could come into play if you use the oem stereo. You could use an eq leveler(i have no experience with those), or change stereo.
