Hello

Im new to the form, so I have:

JX500 is a subwoofer amp

JX360 is a amp for components and coaxial speakers

my JX360/2 having issues playing component/coaxial speakers, i have no tweeter sounds and just get distorted bass, any volume.

I have a JL Audio CP212 pushing 2 12" subs, connected to a JX5001D subwoofer amplifier

I acquired a 2 channel amp to run my new JL audio component speakers, I also bought a 2nd component C5 set as i thought i had faulty speakers, I also bought another 2 channel amplifier to rule out faulty amps, still distortion and no tweeters,

The issue is:

Connected via RCA cables from my subwoofer JX500 amp to my 2 channel JX360 amp

Now when I connect any speakers my tweeters dont work and all i get is distorted bass. ive double checked all the speakers to my home amp and the speakers work fine

Its a very simple set up. added a 2nd amp, then got RCA cables from the pre-outs to connect to the 2 channel JX360 amp, connected to the low level input

So why i get distortion and why the tweeters dont work is puzzling

Im thinking its a signal or cable issue, but the cables look great,

can you advise please on what to do please??

What source are you using?

im using the source from the stock head unit on a 2012 Audi A5

so RCA from the head straight into the subwoofer amp

then from the subwoofer amp to the component speaker amp

the thing is speakers all work perfect on my home amp, i tested it, tweeters mids all work

it feels like im getting only a weak mono signal from the subwoofer amp, rca out to rca in, the amp powering the component speakers

i see that if i get a 3.5mm cable to rca, i can connect to the component amp to see if a signal is achieved?

You probably don't get a full range signal from that hu.

Yes do that.
if i establish that im not getting a full range signal, how can i fix this, i suspect this may be it, ?

but would that be a reason why i get distorted bass on my component speakers?

Stock head units output pure garbage signals. Its all cut up and eq boosted to make the cheap crappy stock speakers sound better. Aftermarket speakers need a flat unaltered signal to perform best. Also the dac in the stock head unit is beyond garbage means you get pure garbage right off the bat. A DSP with signal summing and factory de equalizer is needed if you want to retain the factory unit and have things sound decent. Other option is another head unit with 3 pairs of 4 volt preout rcas

I'm not sure how much experience people here will have with dealing with a B8/8T platform but Jeff is right, the stock head units usually have internal EQ/crossovers that can really affect how aftermarket speakers work. Also do you have a B&O system? They use 8 Ohm speakers, non-B&O uses 4 Ohm.

Based on what you've said - "RCA to subwoofer amp and the subwoofer amp is connected to component amp" https://www.caraudio.com/threads/no...istorted-bass-plz-help-me.603685/post-8692319

I think this may be compounding your problem. Depending on which wires you've used from the stock head unit and if those particular wires have any factory EQ/crossover you may be limiting the original source signal due to the way the stock HU is setup. That is probably you're first issue, where you're compounding it is where you connect your component amplifier AFTER your subwoofer amp. You mentioned you think it's causing the problem and I agree.

That subwoofer amp on Crutchfield shows a frequency response of 10-150 HZ and I'm positive the amp is limiting the rest of your speakers to those frequencies.

For a free troubleshooting test, I'd swap your RCA's so your component amp is hooked up first, then the subwoofer amp after. That may help the issue but remember your stock HU signal may also be a contributing factor.

From some quick searching it appears this thread has a ton of great info regarding the B8 stereo, limitations, wiring, setups etc. I'd read though it thoroughly to help give you more info directly related to your platform: https://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/370286-B8-Aftermarket-Sound-System-Pictures

Connected my walkman from 3.5mmm to the RCA in on the JX360 powering the components, it works fine

my subwoofer amp has RCA going in to it thats been tapped in from the factory subwoofer amp i think, thats why im only getting a bass frequency when i daisy chain from the aftermarket JX500 subwoofer amp to my JX360/2 amp, this was done by some company i hired to wire in my subwoofer and amp, what they should of done is tap into the feed from the head unit so i get a full range signal

theres no other way of getting a free range signal in to my amp now, the Audi A5 head is all built in and i wouldnt have a clue on how to connect to the head unit.

Yes I have the B&O system in the Audi

i hooked the JX360/2 amp 1st, still the same issue, so I connected an walkman 3.5mm to RCA in the 360/2 and the components worked perfect.

As below i think the guys who tapped into the main feed went in to the factory AMP that powers the factory subwoofer.

Thats why im only getting bass and doesnt matter how many amps I daisy chain, il always get a mono bass sound.

I need to tap into the main full range feed from the head unit, havnt a clue on what to do, theres some audio stuff in the boot left side, i think its the factory sub

oh and yes i need to find where the component amp is so i can connect a rca splitter or somthing so i can connect to the JX360/2

You're exactly right. Connecting off the factory sub will only provide Sub frequencies. You'll need to research how to add an additional LOC to the HU or post factory amplifier to run your mids. No one here will have all the specific details you need, you'll need to search around on the Audi forums.

signal is everything to an audio system. If you dont address that, you'll never have any decent results. Its literally more important than anything else in the system because its the origin point of everything. Google up what an 8 channel oem integration DSP is if you want to keep the stock head unit and youtube how to remove "your audi's vehicle make, year and model" head unit if you want to do a head unit swap. Until you address this issue you wont get anywhere no matter how much money you spend on gear.

i know they are not very good, i couldnt afford to replace the factory head as its way to much work, a DSP is also requires alot of work as it would need to be connected to all the speakers

The B&O system in the Audi A5 has 14 speakers and 1 terrible subwoofer

So i already have an JX500 to power my twin 12s

The bass litterally drowns the mids and highs in my car

thats why i added the 2nd JX360/2 amp, so i can power my own component speakers
