I have taken a left over marine stereo head unit and mounted it in a tool box to effectively create a 1980's style boom box. The power is supplied to the head unit with a 12 volt connection from an old lap top. This is working great to convert the AC to DC and run the unit.
I want to put a battery in the loop. I have a left over 12 volt battery from a deer feeder. The battery is designed to be charged with a solar panel.
I really don't know what I'm doing but I am willing to learn. Any suggestions? Can I wire the battery in parallel and just let it charge and discharge on it's own? Do I need an under voltage cut off like this to protect the battery: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B49T4DQ/?tag=caraudiocom-20
Do I need a charge controller like this to charge the battery? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07415C9VJ/?tag=caraudiocom-20
Any ideas would be appreciated.
