Sundown x12s not hitting high notes

I have 2 Sundown X12s and if I turn my low pass filter up at all they start to distort and I don’t know why. Looking for opinions and feedback...

"high notes" means what exactly? x series is designed for lows. could be the amp, could be the box, could be your vehicle, could be your subs.

No my bad I meant my low pass filter. It’s all the way down at 35hz. And as as soon as I turn it up pass that they start distorting

You gotta give details when you ask a question if you want answers homie. What amp? What are the dimensions of your box and port?

Those X series subs are for lowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww notes anyhow. you want something that plays that high, get other brand and tune to 35Hz.
