I got a used Pioneer GM-7200M 800w amp and when i hooked it up to my sub the sound sounded like a there was a filter in front of the speaker. What do you guys think?

what do you mean by a filter? it does have a LPF built in, if its turned down to 40, then it wont play anything above that
