Brands comparison

Hi friends.  I know that comparing brands is always hard to do but id like to know what the men of the higher end audio world consider to be top Brands (Best quality), as well as what the men of the more budget minded customers consider to be the best bang for buck. Mostly just as a general guide as I think most of us have difficulty comparing similar items from different brands across all levels of car audio. Thanks in advance.

It’s easier to say what NOT to buy, house brands like kicker and pioneer etc, cheap flea market subs like boss and Pyle, there are exceptions like the infamous blau’s!!!

Best 'bang-for-buck' overall has to go to Dayton Audio. The quality build and design you get for the $$ spent really has no equal.

Your question is pretty broad.

I respectfully disagree with this statement. People on  internet forums love to hate on big name brands the same way that emo punks hate on pop music. Big brands didn't become big brands because they make bad products, and the reason some may not like them is mainly based on their popularity and price. Do you know why they cost as much as they do? Research and development and advertising. Does this mean that they make a superior product, no. Does it mean that they make a bad product, no. The only thing it means is that some people will always hate whats popular regardless of the truth.

Mmats mosconi ampere dd ground zero crossfire fi sundown dcaudio crescendo

Kicker rockford mtx jl might not be the best, but they generally make reliable stuff that does rated, if not on the slightly pricey side relative to what you get.

Also, theres only a few buildhouses that make amps, and LOTS of different brands/models of amp are the same internally with a different case.

I disagree. Kicker, pioneer, kenwood is allllll about Mark up, they cut cost buy having little to no quality control and the cheapest parts they can make hence why soooo many of them fail almost immediately (subs specifically) for the most part even Rockford is going the way of **** brands. Kicker has been junk since around 2004-5. I collect old Stillwater kicker it was the best I could afford when I was in highschool.

hmm i never see alot of crys about big retail brands failing fast , i do however see the special of the day brands getting failed things new alot more

i agree with this. there are so many brands that do what they can to get the most quality out there and not charge an arm and a leg for it, but then there are brands that once did exactly that and were then gobbled up by a corporate bill press designed to squeeze as much money out of each unit as possible, saying the hell with the consequences of ruining a brand. To @Slo_Ride s first point, big companies dont always get big by being awesome, they do it by filling a market need. Look at Kia for instance, they ****** for the first 10 years they were in the USA, they STILL ****** for the following 4 or 5 only very recently have they turned to not ******* as a result of people having purchased their garbage product for years. Why did they buy it? Simple economics. People saw a product that met their needs giving very little thought to the long term, same thing is happening in car audio. People see the big k logo and say, "hey, i knew a guy who knew a guy who knew a guy who heard about a dude who would shatter all the windows in his car and he used this brand, and since we are here at walmart, i might as well get myself some killer gear" The companies who buy the used-to-be-good brands know this mentality and they exploit it. Sad thing is that the folks who made these brands awesome in the first place are either losing too much market share and are forced to sell before the entire ship goes down or just decided that they are done with the company and decide to sell to a corporation that doesnt care about the integrity of the brand

sorry for the tl:dr

I retract my statement about kicker after looking at their current stuff.  They sold the fvck out.  Their stuff *used* to be solid.

What’s crazy is their subs are terrible but the enclosures they sell with them are actually pretty good it seems like they put a lot more r&d into enclosures then their actual subs
