z1 vs 400.1 vs 40.1

DD Z1 is a mean mofo.

All great amps though.

I would pick the cheapest cause they all are pretty much on the same level.

from what i've READ, z1 puts out close or over 5k at .5

so i'm leaning towards that actually...

I have had all three and you can loose with any of these choices and are somewhat close in power output. Out of the three I would say the 40.1 but for the affordability aspect the VFL 400.1 would come in a close 2nd.

if i could somehow get a deal on a z1a, i'd jump on one of those

it just seems like a z1 will put out more power at a 2ohm load

how underrated are the 40s, i see 1800 but i cant find bench specs

I think the 5k is at 1 ohm, so it probably puts out quite a bit more at .5 ohms.

Also keep in mind that the Z1 is know to be one of the top street amps when it comes to efficeincy

this test seemed suspect to me only because they tested a Sundown SAZ-3000d the same day and barely got 3000 out of it. I can't believe the Sundown is less than half the wattage of a 40.1
