I've never had Guinness Draught before but after this thread I want to try it. I'm a Bud/miller fan though on a normal basis.
going from drinking all light lagers to guinness isn't a good idea, you probably won't like it. gotta work your way up to the porters and stouts. I'd start with real lagers. like sam adams, killians, etc

then work up to ales, then IPAs, IPA is the most bitter beer style. once you ca handle that porters and stouts are easy... they arnt bitter like the IPA style but they are heavy and taste like coffe, roasted nuts and sometimes chocolate. guinness is also a little low in the carbonation department... I recommend mackeson XXX stout instead

Hmmm.

That ENTIRE list blows (except for the beast, IF its this one http://ratebeer.com/Beer/avery-the-beast-grand-cru-ale/30519/ ), just the fact that Corona is on top //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Go over to ratebeer.com and plug those beers in and see where they rank. I doubt most will break the 10th percentile //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Worst case scenario, if you cant find anything better. Stick to Samuel Adams, its not the best but most on that list dont hold a candle to it.

Dont drink beer just to drink beer, drink GOOD beer. You'll never want to touch the ones on that list again.

this guy knows what's up, ratebeer.com and beeradvocate.com are fun to browse around. not only can you get a good overall opinion of a beer you can also find good brewpubs and liqour stores in your area that sell good beer, sam adams is a good beer to start one on the "right path" I'm still pumped about my schnider-weiss I had yesterday, today I might crack open the samuel smith oatmeal stout

But of course //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Sam Adams, thats personally my baseline. If I cant find anything better, cant go wrong with it, but I wouldnt go out looking for anything less then that.

Schneider-weiss I havnt tried yet, but Samuel smiths oatmeal stout, thats good stuff.

Those sites are gold when it comes to pointing you in the right direction to find good beer/pubs. The problem is there's just too many really good beers (80th percentile and above) to try.

the scale is kanda skewed.. its more like the gradeschool grading scale. you know 90-100 is the best of the best. 80-90 is solid beer. 70-80 is average. 60-70 sux, and anything below 60 should not be consumed by human. then again I don't look at scores when I buy, I just grab beer, I've had 117 different brews now and I'm only getting started. I like seeing everyone elses opinion on a beer... its quite funny when you get one guy saying its the best ever and the rest call it pisswater

my roomate will go to the microbrew i mentioned above and drink bud light:(

thats like going to a strip club and being able to fuck any of the hot strippers, but instead you fuck the fat coat check girl

i hate seafood, others love it

different strokes for different folks

had a few sam adams cherry wheat tonight, been a while, they are decent
cant stand the boston lager though
Try the new Oktoberfest (or as they spelled it, octoberfest) version. You should be able to find it on tap at some restaurants, ect. They also sell bremasters mix 6 packs. Black lager, honey porter, and brown ale. Again, not the best but its still good stuff.

Boston lager I got tired of a while ago, so cant blame you there.

IF anyone can get their hands on this stuff, try it.

They are ALL rare to find, I scored some in LA last year //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

If however you're just looking to blast your taste buds, try this.

Yeah I know what you mean. I just try to stick to the 50th and above & not worry about it. IF im going after a specific one, yeah its usually 90th-100th. Other then that, I dont try too hard to find them. The stuff isnt cheap, so I drink them sparingly. I havnt even counted how many ive tried, but theres too many.

There OVER 1000 in the 80th and above, so it'll take a while. I cant say there is a best, everyone has different taste. However when I see someone saying the lower scaled ones are the best... yeah...but no. They are pisswater //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Ill give them this though, they do all taste consistantly the same. Thats hard to do in a large scale.

Ive found that the 90th and above, is more or an aquired taste. Anyone who hasnt is usually in for a shock. You should have seen the look on my face when I tried Arrogant Bastard the 1st time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

blasphemy!!!! bud light over microbrew?!?! I mean I'm sure theres a lighter style beer there he could try
therein lies the problem, my roomate is a chick and she says they are yucky

my favorite beer of all time is Redhook Double Black Stout, but they stopped production in the mid 90's:(

LMAO, she should try that over at Oktoberfest in Germany.

They'll probably kill her, I'll bet the music, ect. everything would stop. Everyone would just stare at her like "WTF did you just say?"

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Like I said, some of the better ones take getting used to. Some just cant palate them because they're used to "pisswater"

lol I've had all those beers you mentioned lol
stone ruination IPA is INSANE.
Ruination is an understatement //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Everything tasted watered down for the next 2 days after I had that.
