Yeah, ya'll hit the nail on the head. Any company is going to charge you extra for size and weight. The UPS limit for extra weight charges is 70 pounds, max payload a driver can deliver is 100# then you gotta ship it freight. FedEx is similar but I think their weights are 50# then you are surcharged for weight and max deliver capability is 75# by the driver. My dad and I used to build and ship furniture and I know the weight restrictions charges fairly well. Size is a real ***** too. Don't even start on those charges.
Also, don't worry, they even rip off their own employees, incl the top guys. My friend works in the corp office and hears stories about the top level execs not getting packages or getting charged outrageous rates for shipping things. It's an endless spiral. DHL is the worst though. I have never had a DHL package make it to me in one solid piece. The last few have been better all torn up and disfigured. It's a good thing I am only getting solid equipment from them.
