Yet another problem with my sundown subs

And thanks for the reply Jacob and now I know why I stay off this forum we have three good replied and dozen random *** ones of "yeah jacob you awesome sundown ftw." The noob is strong on this forum. Lol. Anyway thanks again Jacob!!!

Yeah I know right I'm a complete moron. Having an offset spider can't be bad in anyway. I see lots of subs on here custom built or otherwise, not just saying this one for instance that have offset or not perfectly level surrounds. You wouldn't think it makes a big difference, but that is actually very important for SQ.

Really... this guy again.
Seems you have NO IDEA what we are even talking about.

I can agree with the first statement.

The spider is not offset when glued down (your second statement indicates there is a spider problem) after applying some weight while drying -- it's perfectly level. The *surround* is pushed back slightly to glue down; this is the subject of the thread. It's about 6mm on a surround that is capable of around 50mm; a non-issue in this application, period. Several hundred speakers later it's still a non-issue and performs perfectly fine.

Thanks for trying...

wait you calling me a nuthugger? I have met Jacob a few times and don't ever recall hugging him. Much less hugging his nuts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Jacob did I run into you drunk out of my mind at some point and not remember it ? lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ah I misread. I stand by my point for sub spiders in general, I thought I was reading that they were pushing the suspension down. I just didn't like to see someone give out that advice.

The spider is not pressed down. The cone sits flat on the 9.25" landing on the 6-spoke 18" or on a super thick 8" spider pack; the next landing down is for an 8" spider so the cone is pressed down to meet the spider ID on a standard 8" 3 spider pack. When the re-cone is sat on the customers frame the spider sits up off of the glue landing; the SURROUND has to be pushed in a bit for the spider to rest flat on the landing. The offset is about ~6mm or so.

The surround compliance is not nearly enough to result in pulling the spider forward.

If the spider were pressed backward or pulled forward that would be an issue.
