Yet another battery question.

Oooookay. So I just went out to start my car and the battery is dead (Optima Red Top). I was testing the new system for MAYBE 5 minutes, with the car running and volts not dropping below 12.0-12.5. I thought Optimas would hold up better than this. Oh well.

My question is - I plan on purchasing a Mechman 250amp alternator this Friday, and now it seems painfully apparent to me I will also need a new front battery as well (I was thinking maybe YellowTop). Would I also need a back battery? I'm running 2500wRMS in total. Thanks.

I will definitely check that out, I mean I realize that my current electrical system isn't sufficient but I didn't think that it would be drained in a mere 5 minutes with the car running. The battery isn't too old, maybe 6 months? I have a warranty and might be able to get it replaced (maybe pay a little extra for a yellow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif)

Well I got a jump and took her out on the road... I turned the volume up to near full tilt and the voltage stayed around 13.1 when I was moving, but I had to turn it down when I stopped because it would drop into the lower 12's.
