Yet another advice seeking thread

Apologies everyone for me to barge in on my first post and thread.

The last time I was into car audio was like in the late 80's to late 90's. Ever since I have never bothered with car audio. Just listen to radio when I drive. Been into headphone for around 6 years. Pretty much ended my journey and content with my setup now so no more upgrading for the mean time.

Got a new ride recently and looking to upgrade the audio. I still remember the days on car audio, I have a alpine hu, hifonic amp (forgot which type but 2 channel and mid end, still US made), jl audio sub 10", soundstream amp (again forgot the type to drive the sub) and 2 pairs of MB quart for front and back (2 ways, made in german, again forgot what type). Love the setup, excellent sq (relatively).

Thinking about about the same simple setup without the woofer. Been looking at ebay, due to my fondness of mb quart sound signature which is nice mid, solid mid bass with a little bit hot high. Im looking mainly at vintage items. Choices as follows:

- MB quart discus line dsc216 for both front and back (NOS)

- Amp : Hifonic Mercury or ADS PQ20 or Soundstream Rubicon 302 or MTX RTA450 or PP2025 AM

All the items are those thats still available at ebay (used)

Plan not to spend more than $800 if necessary on whole setup. My apology for my fondness of old school items as I have I actually grown up with those brand when I involved on car audio. I have no familiarity at all with current brand except German Maestro or Focal. And those brand is out of my budget. Im more into SQ, not looking to blare the music. Also my music taste are mostly easy listening, smooth jazz, pop, old age rock.

Any advices will be greatly appreciated. Again, sorry for barging in like this. Thanks

I was offered by shop the following :

Alpine amp 3501 for $120 Alpine dd drive Ddc f17c for $340

Alpine Ddc f175b for $200

Pass audio nt 28 for tweeter, midbass md6517 both for $350

Which of the speakers is the better quality in terms of sq and value for money? And would the Alpine amp be able to drive it? All are used.

Appreciate any feedback as I'm about to demo it tomorrow. I know best is to trust my ear but being out from car audio so long, I have no idea what to expect.

You would be better offer researching the newer or atleast still stocked items.

Many of the products you chose or want may or may not work. If they were to blow or an issue happens you will have no warranty.

Back in the 80's even mid90's vehicles barely used power for the actual car.

thanks. I have the worry on the items at ebay. But if power amp mostly are related to resistor and its usually easy to find replacement. For speaker as long as the edge of the cone (dont know how to phrase it) is still okay, it usually still okay. for the items bought on the shop locally, I have the shop warranty for 1 month. If it have any problems within a month then they will replace it with their other stock.

Also just want to make sure that I dont get ripped off by the local shop as I have never heard a top of the line Alpine even worth 1k new

Additionally I have turned google upside down for pass audio, couldnt find anything about it. not even the brand let alone model number. And its not the famous pass labs for home audio
