Is it ok to run a yellow top under the hood? Ive heard some people say that if you run a yellow top under the hood that it will destroy the battery?

Yes its okay to run them, i dont know who ever told you that it will destroy them, but if your pulling alot of power, put a red top under the hood and a yellow top in the back. But the yellow top is a deep cycle battery so it will take some abuse.

Usually I would say no to a deep cycle as a starter, Sandt actually had a nice write-up about why you SHOULDN'T run them as starters, but optima says its fine, and alot of people have used them successfully... I would never use one under the hood though.

ive got a deep cycle battery that has 950 cold cranks... lol and it weighs about 100 lbs.... will the amp kill the battery if i was to hook it straight to it.... just the battery sittin in my trunk?

ummm yea if your not charging the battery. that would eventually kill any battery, but with optimas you can drain them dead and be able to rechrage them with no problem.

I use a Yellow Top for my primary battery...had it down to 5V before and it charged right back up; show me a regular lead acid that will do that without nasty after-effects //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
