Yellow top or Red top?

I'm lookin to get a new battery under my hood cuz i know it will help the dimming cuz i only got some lead acid battery. But i'm gonna run my system off of it at the moment. I might end up getting another battery or i might not. It just depends on funds. Do you guys think i should just go with the yellow top or should i go for a red top. And where is a cheap place to get them for?

i go with the yellowtop as it has no problems being drained dead and a small jump and be good-to-go. I have heard issue with other batteries having problems being completely discharged and then recharging over and over again.

I didn't really consider the red top as it didn't have enough CCA for my liking, and at my local Advance Auto Parts, wasn't available in GM dual posts. Sorry, for the non-scientific answer

Do people go deff blind and dumb when they read the word search?

If you would search you would find plenty of information as to which should be used for which sort of application.

red top's are seen more for starter batt's. and yellow tops deep cycle batts. Unless you get a group 31 yellow top which is great in both areas (but good luck fitting it).

If you dont plan on draining your battery with the car off, a yellow top will not do you any good over a conventional battery. In fact, a conventional battery will give you more cranking amps.

Yellow top no doubt but what vehicle do you have? Are you sure an optima would fit? If it's the grand am in your sig I would not think that it would work.. could be wrong

i know man. never said they didnt do good. you can use really any kind of automotive battery (within reason) and it will work. Im just saying what people tend to use them for more.
