Yellow Top or Kinetik???

OK, so over the past couple days you've all talked me out of getting a capacitor for my car. The car is a 2002 Cadillac Escalade and I'll be adding a JL Audio 1000/1 with a 13W7. I want to be sure the electrical system can handle the amp with no problems whatsoever so I was looking into one of these batteries, which is best, what do you think I should use for my application? Thanks!

 
I got worried when I was talking to an installer at the local CarToys and he told me he did an install on the same vehicle and he put in 2 500/1 JL Audio amps each to a 12W7 and the guy had all kind of problems, he didn't even make it 2 blocks after leaving, the car was dying on him so he put in a yellow top and then he made is a quarter mile before dying, he ended up having to put 2 yellow top batteries just for this guys Escalade with 2 500/1 amps! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

yeah that story seems a little over the top, or that guy wired something up terribly wrong.....i could be wrong but i gotta figure the alt in an escalade has to be pretty big and could handle most daily driver systems....

im running roughly 1600 rms with my stinger battery, 3 farad stinger cap, civic stock 80 amp alt and i have no problems whatsoever....very rarely drop below 13 volts....

the one experience i have with optima is we bought one for my girls civic and it wouldnt hold a charge...find out that one had been sitting on the shelf almost 2 years and optima stopped making a yellow top in the size we needed for her civic.....

i guess they are re-releasing that size yellow top for hondas/acuras. i'm still worried about picking one up though.

 
i talked to Kinetik a couple weeks ago, they said, rule of thumb, youll need about 70 amps per 1000 watts

im sure your alt is more than 70 amps

id say hook it up, if it doesnt work right, upgrade the big 3, if that doesnt work, do more upgrades.

I prefer finer things.... JL audio is the bomb, the problem is most of the people here dont have very much money so they spend less on raw SPL, they dont care about SQ. Notice that a lot of people here have Geos, Chevys, Pontiacs, all sorts of pieces of crap.

I prefer luxury. Thats why I roll Infiniti with Alpine, JL Audio, JBL, Pioneer, and more.
