yellow top batterry

Hi guys,

Have a question about yellow top batteries. I'm thinking about running a second battery to power my sound system. If I go with a yellow top do I have to replace my stock battery or can I run both at the same time (yellow top and stock) without replacing my stock battery under the hood?. Please advice.

You dont have to replace it but i would so u can have 2 good batts instead of 1 good one.

some one once told me that if you're running 2 batteries, they should be exactly the same. i dunno how much truth is in that.

I was wondering the same thing, as I was going to add a kinetik under the hood in place of the stock one, but I might as well just put that in the trunk and have two...

It's best to run the same types of batteries, not the same exact battery. For example, if you have a wet cell up front you should use one in back. If you have a dry cell up front you should use one in back. Moral of the story, if you have the stock battery it's a bad idea to just put a yellowtop or Kinetic in the back without replacing the hood battery first with a deep cycle.

Thank you guys, I think I'm going with two yellow tops just to be safe. Does anyone have any pictures or diagrams on how to install a second battery in your trunk?, and can I connect my car wires to the side terminals and use the top terminals to power my system or do I have connect everything to either the top terminals or the side. thank you.

Side or top, same thing, can use both or just one, no big deal.

Just connect the batteries in parallel.

Positive front to positive back, fused near both batteries.

Connect - on rear battery to a solid ground spot near the rear battery on the chassis or just run a long *** - wire from the front - to the back -.
