yellow or reds

you can probably find dekas at a local battery store, i get mine across town at batteryone, same price as remybattery but no shipping, or see how much carquest wants for a ngt extreme, but you should measure first and see if one will even fit, you may have to get a kinetik or i think stinger makes a battery specific for civics

optimas blow donkey dcik.....take it from a guy who owns a crx....your best bet would be to get the alt first....along with an interstate deep cycle marine(if you have an interstate battery store near you they are only $72 and longer warranty than optima) unless you want the whine of the alt while you drive around.....cuz after 3-4 months of having 2 batteries charging my 1200 watt system my alt is whining....thats why i bought my alt....of course $500 alt for 240 was hard to pass up.

I was going to run 1200 rms in my civic. its got a 70 or 80a alt. so i might upgrade it someday. anyway, I have the money right now to replace the stock battery. So if I want to add another to the trunk,
would i...

get 2 yellow top optimas

or

a red top in front and a yellow top in the back?

im a noob to adding batteries, so any non flaming attitudes are welcome
Where are you in Illinois? I originally had a red up front and a yellow in the back. Now I have a yellow up front and a spv70 in the rear. Most say red up front yellow in rear, but I am going to stick with this combo. I don't feel like changing it again truthfully.

So the optimas caused alt whine in your car?

alternator is charging still....14.3...but the whine is the alt struggling to keep up with the charging demands....civic's only have a 60-80 amp alt stock....
That still does not make sense. You're saying that the alt is charging the batts at 14.3, but it has to work extra hard to keep them charged causing alt whine. So is it the batteries then?

OK time to put it in simple terms....HIS ALT WOULD BE DOING THE SAME THING NO MATTER WHAT 2 BATTERIES HE'S TRYING TO CHARGE. CIVICS WEREN'T EQUIPPED WITH AN ALTERNATOR STRONG ENOUGH TO CHARGE 2 FULL BATTERIES...HENCE THE REASON WHY A CIVIC CAN RUN JUST FINE ON A LAWN & GARDEN BATTERY....TRUST ME I SAW IT AND LAUGHED....BUT IT WORKED FOR THE PRELUDE....

GET THE ALTERNATOR FIRST ALONG WITH BIG 3 THEN WORRY ABOUT GETTING AN EXTRA BATTERY.
