yeah, uh, about that whole bridging my amp thing....

i just realized i dont have rca cables to connect from the rear output to amp 2 (channels 3 and 4), so i cant even get this idea off the ground.

i spent close to a hundred bones on my last set and i am assuming 2 things:

1. any substantive diff in the quality of the cable will make one side of the car sound better than the other;

2. using an adaptor to split the signal at the end would take the preamp output and split that in half as well, defeating the purpose of having high voltage preamp outs and forcing me to re-tune my whole system starting with each component in the chain

i spent a lot of money on the tsunamis, and i would rather get another one either identical, or not much below it in terms of quality bc i know i wont be able to get much money for a used RCA cable.

You won't hear a difference between them.

I'm sorry someone suckered you into paying $100 for a set of RCA's

Y-splitters do not split the voltage. If you have, for example, 4V preamp outputs....each input will still receive the full 4V using y-splitters.

i always thought my guy at the install shop was a little off in his car audio education. he is a hell of an installer in terms of building custom enclosures and custom kickpads but i called him and asked him if the voltage was split if u split using an adaptor and he said 'yes.'

also, i had a gift certificate for circuit city, and the RCAs they had in the store were either really cheap or really expensive, so i spent too much, but at least it was a gift certificate (lol).

what are some good Y adaptors and where can they be found. i will look around and post links to anything to see what you guys think before i buy them. thanks a lot btlking, jman, and squeak (btw, you have a lot more posts than me, but i have seen TOOL 14 times so i may have you beat there).

I used to work at CC.... which RCA's did you get?
right there on my signature. the tsunami x-15-17, anything in bw was out of stock and the rca's i had were included in a rockford multi-amp wiring kit. since then, i had upgraded all my power wires to 0 gauge but still had the 'toys-r-us' RCAs that came with the wiring kit.

when i saw the same rcas, 17 feet long on some website for $3.99, combined with the $$$ i spent on components ($850 for the morel hybrid 6", plus $300 for dynamat, door sealing, and fiberglass pods), i needed to upgrade.

Yeah...unfortunately that seems to be a common trend. Many professional installers can fabricate anything you desire and do it extremely well....but their technical knowledge is lacking.
