learn to cover a box with the right materials = learning a new trade= being very able to do more things. lol if you come here req with fleece on your box i wont let 2 people look at your car cause i know one will say you have panty hose for box covering loland the other would agree but be alot more serious lol. reason i say use the good stuff is because if you can do it as an installer it opens you up to do more things than just glassing and painting a box. if you look at the quality glassed installs you will notice they have very detailed accents covered/wrapped in other materials that sets of the glass work alot better than just glass by itselfgo to the fabric store, and get some fleece t hat matches the color of the car. stretch that on them boxes, i bet it will look a hell of alot better.
its not as durable as carpet is, but its stretchy and will look much MUCH better.
hmm im not sure Im reading your post right cause its not making sense. Are you saying not to put a "fleece material" over a finsihed box? Ive seen plenty of installs from Unique Autosports where they use lycra based materials (which is what most people talks about when saying "fleece" in this forum) when covering boxes. (louie, fendi, gucci prints on it) I dont see more professional installs than Unique since they do most celebrity cars on the east coast.learn to cover a box with the right materials = learning a new trade= being very able to do more things. lol if you come here req with fleece on your box i wont let 2 people look at your car cause i know one will say you have panty hose for box covering loland the other would agree but be alot more serious lol. reason i say use the good stuff is because if you can do it as an installer it opens you up to do more things than just glassing and painting a box. if you look at the quality glassed installs you will notice they have very detailed accents covered/wrapped in other materials that sets of the glass work alot better than just glass by itself
I have felt on my current box. I don't really like it. Its too stretchy and was really hard to make the seams right because of it. Also its not very durable and the fibers come out easily when I brush it with an upholstry brush (my box sits in the garage half the time).I think it's pretty **** cool, the small details as mentioned are all things to consider but overall it looks great.
As far as red carpet SSS: I built my g/f a box a while ago (she obviously likes red). I used automotive carpet meant for a Ford Taurus (coincidently). It has a tougher backing but you simply run a small cut along the back and it will fold around the corner like normal box carpet.
On another box in my buddies car we used red felt, meant for poker tables. Got that from the fab store.
Just a couple ideas...
