Y did my subwoofer stop working?

i have 2 DVC 4-ohms subs, had them wired in parallel to get the most out of my amp @ 2-ohms,....anyway one of them stop working....atleast it puts out sound but very low, almost like having a sub hooked up to just an ipod.

things i tried

1. i connnected the each voice coil (problem sub) +/- to a regular AA batteryone at a time to see if i would get a response, i did, it sounded like static...i guess thats normal.

2. i tested the working sub on both amp channels, and it worked.

what else could i check? is the sub working or its dun?

pull dust cap off and look under it

2 dvc 4 ohm subs would be a 1 ohm load by the way,,,might be a dead amp
