XXX15 not loud enough, help!

I just got a XXX15 and i put it in my Magnum12 3.5^ft box tuned to 33hz, with my jbl1200.1. 3.5 cubes is pretty big, but it still doesn't seem loud enough to me. I kinda wanted to go sealed for more SQ but then it wont be loud enough for sure. What would be sum good tuning frequencies for a different ported box? I only have about 3.5 cubes to work with. Or should I go sealed. Maybe a bigger amp? But how many more watts would I need. Would 1600w really make a difference over the 1200? Also, my trunk rattles alot. I thought maybe that was absorbing alot of bass. I was thinking about turning my box around to fire into the cabin while having the seat down where the port is.

BTW i don't listen to rap. For rap this thing gets pretty **** low, but I listen to metal with alot of Double Bass drum kicks and I want them to hit harder. Any1 know my best option?

Not sure on the 15 XXX but I had my XXX 18 in a 9.5 cu ft box with 2400+ watts and it was absolute madness!

So, what setups have you heard that you would compare the output to?

You might have you sights set too high for one sub. That box and wattage will push the XXX about as loud as it is going to get. An extra 800 watts should help but maybe you need 2 15's. How strong is your alternator?

think they recommend a minimum of 4^3ft ported.

Are you sure it is setup right? xovers, proper gauge wire, gains etc... Was the Mag. loud? My 12a hits pretty hard with a low tune (26Hz). I would think a 15 would be quite a bit louder.

Yes they recommend 4ft ported.

I think you're expecting too much out of it IMHO. If it gets extremely low and hits hard with rap then you're probably set up right and the notes you want to come through just aren't. You may consider upgrading your mids because those may be the frequencies that you're really looking to hear.
