XXX, what would you do?

Here's my current setup:

1 15" XXX in 4 cubes ported to 32hz

RE 35.1d

Opinion - Loud and sounds great, but louder is always better

I can get a Refurbished viper 2500 for $300 picked up(!)

Option 1 -

Run 2 15" XXXs ported off of a viper 2500 - (~1300 watts each)

Option 2 -

Run 1 18" xxx ported off of the 35.1d - (~1500 watts)

What's the best bet for spl? And which would you choose and why?

I just can't understand how a 15" XXX is not enough for you my 12 is to much for me at high volumes...

When I had my blazer, one 15" xxx was more than enough. In a crown vic though, it's a lot different.

The dual 15's will have more displacement potential than the single 18, dual motors to absorb the power, etc. It will take more power, but would clearly give more output potential. Im setting up dual xxx 15's in my blazer as a matter of fact.

i would go 1 18 off of an orion 2500D ported. it should get crazy loud and the wow factor of being so loud with one sub. i'm just a fan of single sub setups. 2 15's will really rattle your nuts.
