Question about re12's

I just bought a pair of re12's. And I built a ported box for them. 3.1cuft tuned to 32hz. They are rated at 175rms/250peak. I have a couple of amps to chose from but I don't know if it will be to much for them.

MY first amp is a AutoTek sx2300: 700x1 4ohm.

OR I have a Phoenix Gold zx400ti: 400x1 4ohm.

WHat do you think???

Will the autotek be to much for those subs???? Does anyone have any experience with over powering these subs.

Thanks for the help..

I dont think Id put 700 watts to a pair of RE's in a daily, they simply aren't designed to dissipate that much heat. They might take it, but I guarantee it would at very least shorten their lifespan considerably. Their lives would most likely end prematurely in a smelly, smokey mess. Stick with the PG 400 watt amp, imo the relatively small gain in output you might get with the 700 watt amp wouldn't justify the risk.
