XXX making amps go into protection

I know it has nothing to do with my wiring. I have 4 gauge on my hifonics and i know that is good enough. I have tried several other amplifiers, even in different cars with different wiring and this XXX sends everybody elses amp into protection mode as well. If the gains are low and the volume is low the sub will hit a little bit, but as soon as you turn up the volume or gain a little, (i know how much is too high, im not stupid) there goes the red light (protection). So i know for a fact the problem is in the subwoofer. It is a QUAD VC wired into 1 ohm according to the RE website instructions.
Ok so my friend told me to take the cone off the XXX and see if I could re-wire it but the wires are piled with a black silicon like substance which is extremely hard and Its extrememly difficult to get to the wires to re-solder them... I have nothing else in mind that could fix it... I might have even already went to far and messed it up, if i did, **** it ill just buy a different subwoofer and throw this POS XXX away. Any ideas?
Your coiled is burned but still halve *** functional, contact RE for a recone.

check that there is not voltage drop on the battery causing the amp to go into protection mode from not having enough voltage to run the amp itself. it sounds like your battery is being drained ever so quickly.

My Hifonics Zeus amp recently started doing this with my Cerwin Vega sub... It'll handle some power for ~5 minutes and then the red light goes on and no more boom boom.

It has been working fine for MONTHS and only as of recent has this started happening. I was trying to tighten some screws and a spark went off in my capacitor... so I just stopped lol.

I'm gunna check with an audio place tomorrow or the day after.

... So my pointless contribution to this thread is done.

Just to follow up:

The ground going into my cap. was slightly loose, and even though it was touching with the cap I guess it just wasn't secure enough. I tightened it myself, drove around all day and all was well (except my speakers fading out over bumps... probably need to tighten some more screws).

HTH.

I would say take the capacitor out of the entire equation..

But you claimed you had tried the sub in different vehicles, so that didnt help us help you.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I figured I didn't need a cap, but I'm pretty new to this whole car audio deal.

Tony, this isn't my post. I just wanted to add my own thoughts. I think you're confusing me with someone else //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

im going to go with this response because its the most valid:

Your coiled is burned but still halve *** functional, contact RE for a recone.

So, have you put a DMM on the wires to actually know for sure its wired to 1ohm? This will also tell you if there is a problem with one of the coils. You should have done this way before you started hooking the thing to other people's amps.

There is absolutely no reason to 'remove the cone' to check your coils, whoever told you that is on crack.

Ok so i have checked the wiring and it was wired to 1 ohm. actually im tired of ****ing with it, i left it at home. I'm back on college campus 6 hours from home and i think ill just buy a new sub.. im thinking 2 L7's or something.. i just got a new Brutus 1600 watt amp and im not sure what to match it with...
