xxx blown?

hey I recently bought a xxx off tmash and I hooked it up to my jbl1200.1 and I was giving it about 1000 watts when the sub just cut out and then it started to smoke //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

how tha fu(k did this happen only off a 1000 watts

the sub was working fine for about 2 days before this happened

by chance did you have the gains cranked?

what was the V reading on the amp output, im guessing this is 1ohm operation?

the gain was at 3/4

and im not sure the voltage

it was running off a stock toyota 4runner alternator with a 4v sub output on the deck

either u clipped it to death which is more likely than it was defective.

check all your setings and post em up.

so how would I clip a sub to death?

would the sub make noises before blowing if it was clipping?

you would be able to tell if it was clipping hardcore.( i would expect u to notice anyway)

Gain should've never of been turned passed 1/4 of the way and bass boost is worthless. You clipped it, you killed it. You're at fault.

^^^ seriously. mines at 1/4 on my 600.1 and its plenty loud with my shivas.
