Xv1 18 ported build options

Giving another shot at building my own enclosure. I'd like to fiber glass to save some air space on bracing. It's currently in a 4.5 net sealed enclosure and the way it hits I couldn't fathom what this would do ported...

I don't have much more than that space to work with though. CscStang told me I could overpower it in a smaller enclosure if I wanted to. I also know for sure that I could yield more airspace because I fit a 6.6 external enclosure in that trunk with ease. Don't have great clearance going into the back seats. Anyone have opinions? The v1 says it's optimum in 5-7 would half a foot make that big of a difference?

Also which takes up less airspace, slot or aero?

Not asking for dimensions just tips on making the most of the airspace I have and for anyone's experience with these subs in smaller ported enclosures

I don't know of anyone that has 18(s) in the trunk. You might be better off selling/trading it for 2 12's. Something a little more sophisticated and reasonable for a trunk. That driver is gonna suffer if put into a smaller than recommended enclosure. And it's not gonna like it, and sound like crap to you....also a waste of time.

I've taken this into consideration but nobody in my area is looking for 18s, also don't know too many people with subs I'd consider of even value. I liked my single 15 ported. Haven't had 12s in a couple years

Most people arent lucky like me. I can net 10 cubes and only use up half my trunk hahah. I would say build the box inside the trunk to get max volume. The x18 would love a large box. The more you can give it the better

You can yield 10 net yet you're only running a single 12? Trade cars with me lmao. What kinda car is that though? And I figure I could probably get 8-9 feet if I did build in trunk. My battery and amps situation would be confusing though

Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor. The trunk is massive. Trust me, im gonna use that space. I plan to run 2 xfl 15"s in 8 cubes with a batt bank on the right side of the box and amps on the left side. If the output lacks any then i will rebuild into a 4th order ported through the rear deck and seal it off.

I figured so. I want a Lincoln town car so badly lol. But I hear so much about those xfls yet I had a pair of their TNT 12s and I wasn't too fond of them Maybe my lack of knowledge back then is the reason.

That'll sound bad *** though man. You gonna do a blow through? I hear you get mad gains doing external aero ports through the rear deck. I was thinking about doing that just so I could get the most airspace in the enclosure

A 4th order blow through would be ideal for the trunk. Its shaped awful for sound. The subs point right at the trunk lid and the fuel tank is in the way going forward. But im just going to start out with a simple ported box and see where that takes me. Everyone in my area is scared shipless of my single 12 on 800w in a crap box. I cant wait to see how they react to 15"s on 3k in a proper box
