yes, actually, i still have my first gen l-7 15's that metered 141.x @ 25, if i remember correctly, back in '01, or '02.....off my soundstream reference 1000sx on "big3".......anyways, it was unheard-of at the time.... i would say quality has gone down with new cone design, but even newer ones can still get with it in their class.... oh, yah gen 1 l-7 8's @ 122.x sealed wedge... the year after

Hard to beat the Shiva-X for x-max to dollar!

A good "standard" design per dollar in terms of x-max is actually the Skar VVX-12 -- 21.3mm one-way by 70% BL (20mm even by standard over-hang method). Not an ultra-linear motor like XBL but high x-max none-the-less.

Shiva over Skar is my opinion. I am not saying that the skar woofers are not any good. Most everyone that has used them loves them but I tend to stay away from the monthly forum boner sub/amp that will be forgot about within 6months. Maybe even quicker since we all know the audio business is something very difficult to compete in and be successful with.

Furthermore why go Skar when there is Sundown?? Yea there a lil different but not by much plus Jacob is a good guy and he runs a good company. Hell it still blows my mind that the owner of a company is actually a member on this site and a very active member at that. I don’t run anything Sundown but in my eyes Jacob is a gem in the ruff.

you could get one TI 15 for under 400... you could get an 18 for about that much if you can find one. The nice thing with them too is that 3hp motor can be made into tons and tons of custom subs if you ever fried the original TI.

Very true.. High Xmax or not you have to admit DD owns the lanes... I understand that it only really matters to a handful of people. But you know how most new people to the dance are they want to know who’s the biggest and toughest and that is what truly sells stuff and as of right now DD would take home that title.
