XM & Sirius in the same unit?

yes, you can use both. I have the avic n1, and had the avh-p7480dvd, and have xm and sirius both. However i use external boxes, and on the 7480 and the avic n1, sirius shows up as one of the external options, which is fine. Both showed title display and all the fixings too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I like sirius better for the 80's & 90's and hip hop and metal programming, and is more bass heavy. I still subscribe to xm since xm supports db drag.

My cda-9855 will work with either...but fvck sat. radio. Ill stick with CD's until HD radio becomes more widspread
You don't think HD radio will be of the same value or quality of satellite radio do you? HD radio will be of the same variety as RDS but with higher sound quality. The reality of it is where HD radio will be free for the most part you will never have commercial free music. SOMETHINIG has to pay the bills for the radio stations and that is ADVERTISING. If that is cool with you then by all means go for it. But don't expect it to be that much better than regualr old FM. Its the PROGRAMMING that makes sat radio so great, not just the sound quality. And programming with FM will not change much just because the broadcasting technology has. The agenda of FM radio is to make advertising revenue and that I'm afraid has NOT changed.

BTW, this was not a bash at you. I just thought I'd pass some info to you so you didn't get your hopes up too far.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sorry for going off topic.

cost of hd radio upgrades = more advertisement = less music = what happened to mtv //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Thanx, I forgot all about the upgrade costs. I just don't see how ANY FM can keep up with sat radio as far as programming and quality when its FREE to consumers. I've had XM since 2003 and wouldn't think of going back to anything else.

no, i meant the cost to the radio station.

radio station costs for hd upgrades = more advertisements = less music = what mtv is now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

your costs for upgrading to a hd radio isnt nothing really, compared to what the radio stations have to pay to upgrade their broadcasting equipment.

Actually I knew exactly what you meant. If something is costing the radio station money they have to make up for it with advertising revenue which would mean MORE ads and less music.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Of course HD will also have the FCC compliance issues to contend with which will also limit potential playlists of the stations. You also still have to live with the local stations and whatever genre they happen to be. The sound quality may be better, but if the station sucks, it sucks. The Vegas stations are so pathetic, I've basically forgotten that I have an FM tuner. XM is all that I play in the car and the house.
