xbox vs. ps2

actually, yes you can just pop an xbox game in and it will work. there are over 200 xbox games that are currently playable on the 360. if you have xbox live the 360 will automaticly d/l the update to play the game.
Let me revise that then:

The Xbox 360 is not natively reverse compatible. If you are fortunate enough to have broadband then when you try to play an Xbox game it will download the software needed to emulate the game on the new hardware and run the game emulated. If you don't have broadband, or the game does not have a port yet, you are SOL.

there are other options to get the update as well.

with the ps3's far superior cababilities, maybe someone will mod one to play wii games(the ones that aren't completly based on the control design) and maybe even 360 games.
lol. gotta love fanboys //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i'm actually going to buy the wii and think the ps3 is rediculous. but thanks for ***-U-ME ing shit. Now i know why everyone loves you so much. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

that doesn't stop me from admiting the ps3 has a lot better hardware.

x2. this way of thinking drives me nuts. the only people that say one system is WAY better then another are the die hard fans. as stated prior they are both great systems but the fact remains that the 360 got a good enough jump that the ps3 will always be playing catch up. just like the ps2 did to the original xbox.

the only thing the ps2 had on the xbox was GTA and now they dont even have that going for them. and the price is going to turn away ALOT of people . you cant force people to by a product that the maker themselves are not even sure of. its kind of hard to say buy blueray when sony themself has haulted production on many bluray products until they see how it does. sony loves throughing all kinds of big number about there chip sets and hardware but out of those number only like 2 really matter in the real world. the rest is just hype.

keep in mind that I own a 360 now and will own both systems once the ps3 comes out but there is no hiding the truth that the 360 simply ended up playing this round better.

exactly. the 360 is available now. the ps3 isnt, no one can say if its any better or not since they have not played both yet. i liked the xbox over the ps2 simply because i played the exact same game on both consoles and it looked better on the xbox. ohh well.can kill all the fanboys

i have a 360. and several xbox games. and xbox.com has a list of all games that are backwards compatible as well as the options to get the update needed to play them.
so i can't just walk into a used cd/game/dvd store and buy 'tao feng' for xbox, take it home and put it in a 360 and play it? i have to download an emulator and then i can pop it in and play it?

If you are on Live, then it already has the updates for games. The list of games that work are located here:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardcompatibilitygameslist.htm

The list grows all the time, so if a game isn't on it then it will be soon. Besides, I don't know about you, but I almost never pull out my old games to play them on the new gen systems. I would rather play the new games.

If you don't have broadband, you can still download the updates through xbox.com on your PC and burn it to disk.
