xbox vs. ps2

dear all you peoples and stuff,

whats better graphically, an xbox(original) or a ps 2? alotta people told me that ps2 has waaaay more games, but the 360 doesn't look bad. i don't know if i would ever buy one though.

i was thinkin about gettin a ps3 next summer, but that Wii looks pretty good too.

1.) does/will the Wii have alotta fightin games? like tekken, mortal kombat, god of war, etc. i like those games

2.) will the ps3 be backwards compatible?

3.) is the xbox 360 backwards compatible?

4.) if i were to buy a console now, should i buy an xbox(original) or ps2?

It's true that the PS3 will be more capable of graphically superior games, but the same thing was true of the Xbox in the last console generation. A side by side comparison of Metroid Prime for GCN and Halo 2 for XBox quickly throws that premise out the window.

1) I can't answer that because I don't know. Google for the Wii's lineup of games I guess.

2) Yes PS3 is backwards compatable with PS2 and PS1 games.

3) NO. The Xbox 360 is not backwards compatable. There is extra software you can install on your 360 to emulate certain games, but you can't just pop in an Xbox disc in a 360 and have it work.

4) Make up your own mind. I have an original xbox and don't think too highly of it as anything but a DVD player.

in the end after all the hype and alll the numbers which for the most part are not even important in the real world there is one think that rings true.

BOTH system are REALLY REALLY nice. they both have amazing graphix and great features. its will end with the xbox box on top for two reasons and two reasons only.

1. the were first and have a huge head start just like the ps2 did.

2. the online for the 360 still crushes sonys.

otehr then that the look and function of both units are very much next gen. they can throw around all the big numbers and chip types they want but in the end they perform very similar. the sony is off to a very ruff start and are taking a huge risk with blue ray. they took the biggest hit last week when that major beta tester flat out said the ps3 was a miss in his newest report on E3 news.

so as i said they are nice units but the 360 is going to win this round.

actually, yes you can just pop an xbox game in and it will work. there are over 200 xbox games that are currently playable on the 360. if you have xbox live the 360 will automaticly d/l the update to play the game.

Agreed. Especially now that MS announced 1080p support on the 360.

The only thing Sony is doing to try to outperform the XBOX 360 is to have a bigger hard drive, which doesnt mean much when their blue ray format is having so many problems because of crashing in Japan. Plus the PS3's graphics will be very similar to the XBOX 360's. Sony screwed up. IMO

with the ps3's far superior cababilities, maybe someone will mod one to play wii games(the ones that aren't completly based on the control design) and maybe even 360 games.
