What the hell does a Softmod do? I bought an Xbox from my buddy for $20 (pot head, and he wanted some pot), so I decided I would do something different with it. I have a softmod on my xbox.. Goto xboxscene.com for a walkthrough,, you have to own ghost recon or go rent it to get started.. i think you can use a couple other games to. but you have to use one of the games save files?

softmod lets ya play burnt games put games on harddrive upgrade dashboard swap hdd. Pretty easy to do. I did it to mine

softmod is free, modchips you gotta pay for but can do alot more with

key is to delete system32 on your pc

its pretty much impossible to softmod anymore unless you got a friend with slayers

you cant do a chip, to much of a noob

chip > softmod

softmodded mine about a month ago no problems

Get ya the Action Replay and an mech assult game from gamestop and thats all ya need

Now what does that mean? I can't do a chip because I'm too much of a noob? Decided I want to run it as a media center/linux PC. Not entirely sure what to do, but I have read a couple guides already. Can anyone point me in the right direction, and has anyone done this before?

I have a chip in mine and a 320 gig HD. Pretty **** sweet, there are 96 xbox games on there along with the emulators for nintendo, super nintendo, sega, and gameboy. You can play backed up games on it too, as long as your drive can read it. If you have a samsung drive or phillips should be alright. I played a few backed up games on my samsung drive just fine. I am wanting to put my 250gb hdd into it and use it as a media center, but i never get around to doing it.

How many games do you have for the emulators? Willing to share? I've been trying to find some but all I can find are crappy torrents that are 95% hacked versions of the game.

I've got an Xecuter3 mod chip, and a 250 GB Drive in mine and I love it. You can go rent any game and rip it to the hard drive and play it from there. I'm not too sure how many games I have on it now but it's between 30-40. You can get a solderless adapter for the chip so all you have to do is plug in the adapter and chip and your good to go.

That solderless chip all depends on what version your motherboard is. Mine was one of the first so solderless was out for me.
