Here is probably the main reason games on xbox 360 are better than ps3: The xbox 360 is hands down the easiest system to develop for AND it's XDK aka dev kit was out LONG before ps3's. Because of this, developers almost ALWAYS code multi-platform games for the 360 first because they can get it up and running faster and more stably. Then they have the groundwork laid as far as textures and artwork. They can bring the same logic over but they do not "port" the game. They do complete rewrites so that the code is efficient on the ps3 and takes as much use of the powerful cell processor as they know how at the date of the coding. (The cell processor is one of the only areas the ps3 outshines the xbox360 in terms of performance. The cell cpu is far and away theoretically more powerful than the xbox360 processor BUT developers cannot reach its theoretical limit. They CAN with xbox360 and the processors actually perform very similarly.)
To summarize, it's easier to code for xbox360. The games are made for it first and then adapted to ps3. There will never be a multi platform game that is better on ps3.
The ONLY real reason to own a ps3 is the bluray. That coupled with the cool factor of just owning both machines and the sleek ps3 interface is enough to make the purchase, but in no way is ps3 the superior machine.
With the new gpu's in the xbox360's they do not get rrod errors period. They do not reach the temperatures it took to get the lead free solder brittle in the BGA underneath the gpu thus preventing the RROD.
I've heard that too. They make the game for the 360, and then add it to the ps3. That is why they look "worse" on the ps3. I don't really worry about it though.
