sounds about right. First thing I started thinking about when you mentioned an xbl^2 SPl woofer was that you woudn't need to overbuild the mechanical clearances on the parts or make the suspsension stupidly stiff as the motor will apply it's own breaking force.

BL optimization is going to take a while to really make an impact because of this, but barring a whole new radical change in speaker technology, BL optimization is the way of the future for speakers.

Brands are not out there ignoring that, including us. We choose not to go with XBL2 for plenty of our own reasons. We did have an underhung model in the works, but it was too cost prohibitive for the market, it would not sell well at all no matter how badly I wanted one in our line up.

shouldnt cost more than the icon. i was told mag v4 was xbl2 and was around $260. the shiva-x is xbl2 and is $240. unless perhaps u were aiming for really high power handling levels

Now we are getting into the finer details of build costs in terms of the differences between drivers. Our drivers are built one by one (which is pricey) and it is done here in the US (which is also pricey), but then again we are not paying royalties. The average member on this forum does not really understand the massive difference in build costs of an American made driver compared to an overseas made driver. Part of the reason something like the HDC3 sold wildly, because its end price to the customer is so low, and AQ can do that. But yes, the Icon is not meant for the same market as the mag or shiva.
