I am contemplating buying either the Rockford Fosgate Power bd1001 (2003 model) or the Phoenix Gold x600.1
My sub is a single 12" in a ported box. Rated 800w RMS. 4 Ohm Single Voice Coil.
I know the Rockford will only give me 500w into 4 ohms. The PG is 600w into any load.
The Rockford will do 1000w into a 2 ohm load if I decide on a new sub down the road.
The PG draws about 60 amps, the Fosgate draws about 80 (I would assume that's at 2 ohms, so current consumption is probably within an amp or two between the two of them at 4 ohms.. Right?)
PG seems to have better crossovers, and the adjustable subsonic filter. I'd be using a Alpine 9855 as the source, so the subsonic filter is a definate plus for the PG.
Both amps are seriously under-rated as I have seen with the birthsheets.
Is there a reason to go with one over the other? Help me make my decision!
Thanks! Jim
