X001 and H701 and P701

I called the place I got my X001 yesterday to talk to the installer that uses the same unit...to see how he's processing it.

Well! He uses the X001, and has the H701 and C701, feeing PDX amps and Dynaudio components. He's switching to Genesis amps in the next week or so as he's redoing the entire car (it's in for paint now) but he says it a fantastic setup! Superb sound quality and control.

He's "OK" with the PDX amps, didn't have enough time to mess with them before the tear down, but is doing the Genesis stuff as it's just ALOT better.

Interesting.. so he is running analog into the H701.. About all I've heard on it is the noise level running analog wasn't so spectacular, but that's just hearsay from hearsay... I haven't heard hardly any feedback on it. It's good to hear someone is doing it with good results.

Just a quick FYI, even with my OLD EQL hooked up to the X001, the sound is even more amazing than the initial install! can't wait to further process it down the line with some higher quality, newer stuff!

And the X001's processing is pretty good in and of itself...I keep hearing about the iPods lack of bass reproduction...hogwash! I've never had bass this intense!

How were you eq'ing it from the head unit?..

I'm one of those guys that if the eq is minimal, ie bass/mid/treble, then I leave it flat.

It's flat. I tried messing with the EQ at first, but ****, the bass was INSANE! I set it flat, and the bass and treble are both flat.

Sounds like you're getting a better signal than the old RF then.

Also meant to ask if you're using any of that media expander stuff or have all that dissabled as well?.. That stuff typically boosts a bunch of artificial bass as well.

I haven't touched the unit aside for the EQ initially and the bass/treble. Everything else is flat or 'stock'.

And yes, even though voltage was down, the X001 sound alot better than the RF, if lacking a BIT of power?
