I dont know about the x box, but the playstation seems to do an allright job at playing DVD's...id just say to test the x box out and if it seems allright than it should do. Look at it on the bright side...at least your not spending extra money on an external dvd.

Sony PS2 would be the way to go...I hear they are discontinuing the x-box and the games come christmas! thats just what I heard so dont take my word for it...but anyone else hear about this?

Xbox all the way... and no they are not dicontiuning it they are adding internet play on xbox live service.

i think the DVD quiality is just as good and the laser plays better over less than prefect discs

Thats great, but in my opinion the x-box blows. I have Tony Hawk 3, GT3, and FIFA Soccer for my PS2 and I'm very content with that over my friends X-Box...and he has about every single game there is, but for some reason he never stops playing that **** Halo. Just not my thing...

Yeah, HALO is played *waaaay* to much, I was saying XBox was a better system (although in **my opinion** it's the best) just that they are becoming a monopoly of the video game industry.

Yeah, XBox does have some good stuff going for them, but for some reason I just dont like it. I guess I got stuck on Playstation whenever the first one came out...I just never stopped playing it. Now that my PS1 broke, I can still play Tenchu on my PS2...guess that settles it for me... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If you buy the accesory that seperates the signal into three different wires (colors) you'll actually end up with higher DVD quality than a regular DVD player. XBOX is not limited by the industry standard of quality placed on normal DVD players. It takes full advantage of the picture quality that a DVD can provide.

Xbox has a package that if you buy it you can hook up the video through s-video (not sure if car monitors accept s-video) and second it plays the movies/games in surround sound vs sony playing everything stereo. So if you have a Surround sound decoder go with xbox if not doesn't matter.
