WWYD? 2 or 3 RE SE 12's and why

I have one SE 12 hooked up right now in a hatch, hitting 136 on the TL. I have another ready to be installed.. I can't for the life of me decide if I want to get another to put in my RSX. I have designed 2 vented enclosures for either 2 or 3 subs, so that is not a problem, I will have enough power for 2 or 3. power for 2 is 700 each and 3 will be around 500 each, so that's not really an issue. What would you do and why. I am kinda leaning toward using 3 but I would like to know the maybe pros and cons of either of these setups. Keep in mid I have only heard 1 se, not 2 or 3 so I really have no idea what 2 or 3 would sound like. Thanks in advance for any or all suggestions.

um. i think 500w is not too bad per SE... if they are in big enough boxes, but do you have the room for them? talking about 2 cubes each after displacements, they would like about 1.5 cube boxes tuned to 30~40 hz (depending on your taste and the area you have to work with)

i would prolly just go with two, i know my RESE10 was a really sweet little speaker while i used it, but you would run into stupid wiring issues (read: really low, or not low enough)

i would get a pair of D4's and call it a day with a 1500w 1ohm stable amplifier.

Hey man, sorry I haven't gotten back to ya in a couple of days. I've been busy building boxes and doing the wiring in my car. I would do (2) 12's in that car because (3) 12's may force you to build something that would cause cancellation (loss of output). Do you still want me to help you design something?

goltaz1, yes please help me come up with something, I had the guy from team toxic bass that has the izuzu with the 2 13w7's design me a crx style box for 3 subs that is designed to the specs of the sub. And the gus from ED where I got my amp designed me an everyday box and an spl box, I just can't decide wether or not to use 2 or 3 subs. I kinda want the 3 because of the WOW factor. you know opening up that hatch and seeing 3 12's firing up right at you. ummmm oh sorry. I just am not sure what to do..

I will go ahead and tell you that the guy from Team Toxic Bass knows what he is doing and his design will probably be better than anything I can come up with. I would highly recommend building what he has designed for you. I would personally go with (3) 12's if that's what the design is for, they will knock the roof off of your car.

he said it would sound like nobodys business what ever that means, but I do not think it will be much of an spl box, which is fine, but I do not think I will be able to compete in street C which is what that box will put me in. But is should be pretty loud,, iguess... I have only heard my 1 sub let alone 3 subs

I would just do 2 12's with maybe a kicker kx1200.1 or orion1200D, I was going to, But I started getting greedy leading me to my mag/2500D setup //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Knowing the Toxic design guys I can assure you that it will be well capable of putting up a decent number. Did you realize that Street C was won this year with a 158.x? Not saying that you couldn't do something to rival the guy that won, but that is a really high number for a Street class. If you really want to compete in Street C, I would go back to the Toxic Designs guy and tell him that you are looking for a one note wonder. With your current equipment (I hate to say) I don't think you will have much of a chance at Db Drag shows in Street C unless you only go to shows in Montgomery. There are alot of very loud guys around the Southeast in Street C. Just some food for thought.

P.S. I don't want to persuade you from competing, I just want you to go into the competition scene with your eyes wide open to the folks you'll inevitably face.

The 2 12"s will be loud and sound good, and the 3 12's are going to get even louder and would be better for you if you plan on competing in the future.

Id say its a toss up on personal opinion of wanting to have 2 or 3 subs in your car.

And space.

its all box dependant

like req said if u have the space for 3 se12's then go for it....if each 12 is not getting its required space go with 2

80

i'm doing 2 se12's and i'm trying to do mid 140's with music

I had planned on wiring the 3 12's at .67 ohm getting around 16 - 1700 to all 3 subs. I understand street C is very tough to compete with but I have a feeling these 3 12's can put me somewhere in the lower 150's all things considered, with the crx style box, tuned to the Fs of the sub, I mean I do not think the box will be the problem, but who knows have to build test and meter first, you know. I really want to start competing heavily this year but with 2 subs I'd be in street B and hell they are throwing numbers higher that street C so I think my chances would be better in a higher class. I certainly do not expect first or hell even second, for this car is my daily driver, But I would expect to put up some decent numbers for bass race... hopefully. Thanks for all your ehlp and keep offer up suggestions I love to hear what you may have to say
