Wrong. It is for people who want to enhance the bass they already have.

Sub-bass has such a broad wavelength and strong intensity that the sensation is percieved with more than just the ears. You can sit in a theater with just those and no subwoofers, and you would not be able to tell that there are no subwoofers.
