WTF Is Happening

My system seems to be doing something weird.

When ever my subs are plugged into my amp the amp goes into protect mode as soon as I start my vehicle.

If the subs arn't wired into my amp then the amp is fine and is in normal mode.

Any help?

The amp is also fine when the subs are wired into the amp its when the sterio inputs are plugged into the amp, that it goes into protect mode.

are you wiring it lower than the amp is made to run?

Negative...I've had this setup running for about 3 weeks.

Its 2 MJ-18s on a hifonics 2005D amp wired at 2 ohms.

the sub/s could have a short, causing the amp to go into protect.

you can check the subs using a DMM, to check the impedance.

So are you saying you have the subs wired up, and then you plug in the RCA's to the amp and it goes into protect? As well as if you do it the other way around?

If I dont have the rcas plugged into the amp the amp is fine, but when I plug the rcas in the amp goes into protect.

Thats pretty strange, try different rca's? or if you have a way, try plugging an ipod or something directly to the amp and see if the same thing happens

First things first... Pull the subs and check the DCR with a DMM.

If that checks out, do what ^ said and try a different source.
