You holding your finger over the flash or something?
umm............ no //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

I noticed even with the flash it's very weak and you have to be within a 5ft. radius of the object but still gives shadows.

here's the camera

are you using preset shooting options? can you shoot in manual mode? open the aperture up(higher number) if possible.
I don't think i have an option to adjust that. I've played with all the features it still shadows in every picture except the ones in direct sunlight.

the problem is there isnt enough light getting to the lens of the camera, which is caused by the hole that allows light ( aperture ) to enter being too small.

may just be a crappy camera.

That's what i was thinking..

dammit 250$ worth of crap

thanks

Over all, I'd say it may just be a weak, narrow flash. It could be a defect so you should try to trade it back for another. Or your poor pictures are taken after such a time that your battery is weak and/or the flash has not had time to fully recharge.
