Right now I'm only running the two fronts and a center. The fronts are these tall speakers my dad bought out of some guys van (white van speaker scam, lol) and the center is a basic dayton bookshelf speaker. Not ideal at all but the receiver drained my funds, lol. I've got a 12" Dayton subwoofer and 300w bash plate amp just waiting for a box to be built...yah this is my first adventure into HT, and im trying to understand it but im kinda lost.. what speakers/woofer you got hooked up
For your subwoofer yes, for the regular speakers, no. For example that receiver I posted, I believe is like 80w x 5 channels at 4 ohm...but then it also has a subwoofer pre-out that you run to a plate amp for your sub.so do u have to use a amp if u have a reciever?
haha, you get what you pay for man. HTIB is like buying a prefab system ya know? One of those bandpass boxes with some Audiobahn subs and a legacy amps strapped to the back...jeez this is gonna be an expensive hobby, how does HTIB sound lol
Yeah, and you don't have to buy everything at the same time. The basic stuff that you need to get started is the receiver, two front speakers, and a center. The speakers don't have to be anything special at first, you can upgrade them as funds allow, ya know? That's kinda what I'm doing.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sick.gif.b1847c8dabbfeeddbcf1a78052249e10.gif
lol, yah looks like im gonna go the expensive route... i always thought no amp was needed if you had the reciever, man this sucks lol.... gotta buy one item a time, and im sure there are cheaper items with similar quality out there..
what speakers do u hook up to the 5 outputs? 1 center, 2 surrounds, and 2 fronts??
It depends, it would probably say whether it's a "powered" subwoofer or notyah and i might as well start with a good quality reciever..
if you get a woofer already in a box, u still need the plate amp correct?
Yeah, definitelyand it would be better to have a custom box rather than a pre fab correct?
