WTB: Vinyl Turntable

I want to start collecting some old vinyl discs and I was wondering if someone had a good player sitting around.

Any advice about brands, or what to look for is also appreciated.

stanton str8 series are great for beginners. If your not gonna mix or scratch, they're still a solid direct drive table.

meh...then mine would be too expensive. There are some very nice direct drives out there for cheap. Maybe a Denon DP30L, Stanton Direct Drive w/USB port, Rega P1, Yamaha YP-800

I was looking on the bay for something, and I can't find anything made after the mid 70's....

What kind of money should I be looking to spend? I was thinking 50ish (based on ebay prices), but I think that might be unrealistically cheap...

What kind of maintenance am I looking at (belts and cartridges)?

Craigslist has some great deals under $50.

early to late 70's produced some of the best turntables ever made.

i would be very suspect of a turntable costing under 200ish.... new i mean.. You can get a nice Denon or Yamaha or Rega for 200-400...not alot of maintenance if taken care of...maybe a new stylus every now and then.

I found that site too. Ughhhh. I was just going to get something inexpensive offline, now I'm starting to learn what I'm looking at and it's getting more expensive.
