all the power series amps I have owned would go into protect when dropped below there rated impedance without any modifications.

Check out American bass or audioque.

That Rockford 4K isn't the right piece to play with low impedance. When they blow up, you need to send them to RF for a whole new board. AFAIK Nobody repairs just components on them.

Well it sounds like it's not a good idea but I've been doing it for a while. Years with no problems at all. Two strapped at 1.34 ohm and soon each will be wired on their own to 0.7 ohm. I have "good" listening habits I guess. But on second thought maybe I'll run them at 1.4 ohm on my new build...
