WTB: Highend Deck/Amp
@West;
I may consider selling my MCC404M in a few months. It's currently in use. I am stepping up to the MCC406M. The MC's are really wonderful amps, I would also consider a ZED amp they look really good and have some impressive stats.

Had an MX406 HU that sold a week ago.

If you were going for a MC HU try to get the MX5000 its pretty rare but there is a guy in diy selling it for 1,500. I can give you his username if interested.
Frankly its the only MC control center I would consider. The MC hu's are super basic, they sound good but have very limited sound tuning (Aside from basic treble and bass).

Nak and denon are probably good choices. I would consider a P99RS, but you are going to need some RTA gear to make the most out of it (do not get the p99rs if you are running passive crossovers).

Hope this helps.

I have the following for sale:

Mcintosh MX4000 Head Unit

Mcintosh MDA4000 Outboard DA Converter

Mcintosh MPM4000 Analog Meter Module (which looks great in the dash below the HU)

Mcintosh MCD4000 6-disc changer

All of this was installed in my GTIVR6 with 4 2-Channel Butler tube amps, Dynaudio 3-way front stage with 8" mid-woofers, in sealed enclosures, and a single sealed 12" Alumapro sub. Everything was removed from the car about 7 years ago and has been sitting in most, if not all, of the original packaging since. The goal when building was all about sound quality - it was amazing.

Let me know if you are interested. It is very difficult to find all of these items in good working condition.

Was going to buy the MX4000 5 months ago.

It's getting older (made in the mid to late 90's), but McIntosh is meant to last.

Last thing I'll mention is that you may want to consider a deck that has an EQ and time alignment features, along with active capability. They can make a big difference in the final overall sound quality of a system.

I ended up the the p99rs because the Mc HU just didn't have the features I was hoping for, and I can't see dropping large bills on a HU when I would have to buy an external DSP to get the most out of my system.

Looking for the following:
Amps:

Monolithic Sound

Milbert

ADS

Linear

McIntosh

SoundStream MC/D Series

Adcom

Decks:

Nak

Denon

McIntosh

or anything along these lines
pm me for your ideal mcintosh head units and amps. i have just about all of them
