Look into TC-9s. They're prolly your best bet for that cheap.

thats what i thought... but everybody wants 170+ for one...

well mine is a hybrid, that is tc-9 based. IMO, way better then the orignal tc-9's and can handle 1000-2000 rms daily. i think if he is looking for something great that will last him, he will have to pay a little extra. its gonna be hard to find a good sub for 140-150, just because shipping is expensive. but my offer still stands.

you might wana look around on here a little more, there is/was about 3 people selling some TC/Hybrid speakers for ruffly that price.

I know they are around, because I searched/found/purchased 3 of them from this site.
