The problem with those amps is that most of their 'guts' have been discontinued and to compound things even more; there's very little protection circuitry on the amp. So if someone did something stupid, you could be in for a big bill. If it's an opamp that took a dump or a bad cap or two, those are quite easy to fix. But if someone thought "all old school amps are 1ohm stable", bridged all channels to drive subs, or was sloppy with the install; your power supply is roasted. Take the bottom cover off and give it a sniff.
